CommonHooker Fishing Team does it again

Report Date: August 25, 2007

The red fishing in crystal river is unbeleaveable. Today we caught so many reds that it became hard to keep track of how many or more importantly who caught the biggest fish
Dr. Sam Williams and I fished the
Twin Rivers Red fish challenge, and took first place with just under 13 lbs. not a bad day for the first tournament that we ever fished together. Not counting the 7 or 8 red fish that we caught over the slot of 18 to 27 inches, and the fish that we had to give up because we caught better ones.
We did manage to land two fish that were perfect 26.5 inches and both of them were just over six lbs.If it hadent been for Sam's quick thinking we might have been in secound. He jumped in after a rod that I laid down for just a second to help him land the first of our wining pair. after the speedy recovery of my fishing rod I landed the fish that was still on the line that turned out to be the second of our wining pair. Needles to say it was a fun filled and event full day. All the credit goes to Dr. Sam for his great eforts thanks again "DOC".
On a different note the trout have started to make their way in to a litte bit shallower water. back to 6 to 8 feet and they are ready to take the easy way to the table. using a poping cork and a gulp bait on a 1/4 oz. jig head will do the trick. You will have to weed through the little guys to get dinner but its stil a lot of fun. The snapper are staring to pick up even more than last week still around shallow rocks and ledges.I have recieved reports from some big boat guys that the red grouper bite is great in about 80 feet so if your going to go that rought pack a lunch. All in all the fishing is starting to take the swing into the fall mode early so start looking at what you did lats year in october to catch the fish this september. Remeber to take only enough for dinner and leave the rest for the next group of folks that want to have a good time.
